Huntertown Family Park in Huntertown IN 46748 Allen County Destination #22 Family Fun.

The Huntertown Park is a community park located on the corner of Woods Road and Old Lima Road, in Huntertown Indiana.

This past the Huntertown Family Park held the park’s second annual Christmas tree lighting as a community event at the Huntertown Family Park. The event including special guests Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus who were available for pictures. There were hot drinks and caroling and the announcement of the winners of the poem and prose contest as written by children from grades 1-5 who attended Cedar Canyon School. These students were asked by the Huntertown Family Park Board members to write a poem or short story on "What do Christmas lights mean to you?”   A winning essay was selected from each grade level. The talented writers were announced at the "Lighting of the Christmas Tree" event and each of them participated in the tree lighting as together they threw the light switch.  The winner’s poems/short stories were also published in the Northwest News along with a picture!

Since my wife grew up in the home across the street from the park. It has been interesting watching the transformation from private land to a public recreational area. Many people have contributed along the way and it is really neat to see the transformation of their vision manifest in this family park.

Huntertown is a thriving and growing part of our Allen County community. Many people call it home and contribute in so many ways good ways to our livelihood here in this area.

So, even though your busy and running in 63 directions. Take a minute or two. Grab a family member or friend and stroll or drive over to this family park and enjoy some reflective time or whatever.

No series on family and friend destinations in our Greater Fort Wayne Community would be complete without including this rising star. So check it out.
